Procedure for Requesting a New Report

(Approved by the TUG Statistics and Reports Group, February 12, 2004)

To request a new report by using the reports request form:

  1. Discuss your report requirements with the report authorizer at your institution for the appropriate functional area (e.g. circulation, collections, acquisitions). Provide a detailed description of the report needed and the date required. (see list of report authorizers on the New Report Request Form

  2. The report authorizer will confirm that the report doesn’t already exist and an appropriate priority level for the request. If the report is institution-specific, the reports authorizer will also discuss it with his/her TUG counterparts to determine whether the report should be adapted to serve TUG-wide needs.

  3. The report authorizer will get back to you with next steps and recommendations for adjustments to your original request.

  4. Fill in the New Report Request Form, providing information that is detailed enough to give the report developer a good idea of what is required in the report. (see Reports Request Form Definitions)

  5. Save the form and email it as an attachment to TUG Statistics and Reports Group (TUGtsr@library.uwaterloo.ca), which prioritizes requests when there is a queue of reports waiting to be developed.

  6. Average turnaround time is 6-8 weeks, depending on the number of requests in the queue. The report developer will prepare documentation for the report and link it to the record in the reports status database and will notify you when the report is available for use.

Note: To request a change to an existing report,
