The Agenda was approved.
a) Approval
The minutes of December 11, 2006 were approved as revised.
b) Business Arising
- Implementation of report request form and database: Once the authorizers’ names have been confirmed, Linda will draft a message to TUG staff to inform them of the changes to the report request process. Vera sent in a trial of a report request form for holds. Bill has been assigned to fulfilling the report details.
- ERM usage data for Laurier: Bill is helping Don with representing Laurier usage data in TUG ERM usage database.
Testing results to date: Bug not fixed to Architect. This affects the alias tables and joins. There is a workaround for joins. 7.4 MR1 supports IE7. Linda will resend Gail’s message, reminding staff to test Cognos 7.4 MR1 and report the results to TSR by April 5, 2007 . Early testing results show no major show stoppers.
Gail submitted a 7.4 upgrade timeline recommendation. TSR reviewed it and agreed that the upgrade proceed as planned and the workaround would continue with exporting catalogues from Architect.
WLU demo: Gail and Vera attended the Cognos 8 demo at Laurier. The Cognos representative entertained the possibility of the TUG libraries piggy-backing on the WLU license. Vendor demos at Laurier are continuing throughout the summer months. Gail and Bill will be invited to attend the vendor demos at Laurier.
UG status: The University of Guelph signed a license for Cognos.
Allan Bell asked Gail to prepare a draft cost benefit analysis of Cognos 8. The Group reviewed the document and suggested some revisions. Gail will submit the revised document to Allan Bell who in turn will present it to the TUG Executive.
Vera is to remind the team that a scheduled session was planned for March, 2007 to think about next steps, to create a concise training package of quick tips and tools and to establish future training sessions for either the team or staff.
The Group reviewed the draft 2006/07 year-end expenditures report. Linda will ask TOMG for the 2006/07 cost-sharing percentages and submit the final report to the TUG Executive by April 19.
A response will be sent to the TUG ERM group inquiring about the need for varying levels of security within ERM system based on different staff needs.
Gail reported on the enhanced OPAC search cube on test server (http://tugrprts.lib.uwaterloo.ca/cognos) in the newsbox TUG Reports and Cubes>OPAC> under the name “opac_test.” A report on the number of Trellis searches by institution is possible.
The Group will review the agenda and forward any special interest sessions to Bill who will try to attend the session.
Linda will call the next meeting during the summer.
