Notes:
Criteria for the new system
A group of thirty staff members from all three libraries attended daylong demonstration sessions held by five companies. The University Librarians gave the Library System Evaluation Group, representing all functional areas of all three libraries, the responsibility of developing a method of evaluating the systems. They developed criteria to guide the selection process.
The successful company had to demonstrate:
- a focus on the needs of academic communities
- adherence to library, computing and communications standards
- flexible and effective consortium support
- client-centred computing
- that it was stable and dependable company
- system functionality
- reasonable cost
